CÚRAM – Centre for Research in Medical Devices –  researches in chronic illness, by designing and manufacturing the next generation of smart medical devices.
The center’s innovative approach incorporates biomaterials, drug delivery, cell-based technologies, glycosciences and device design from molecular design stage to implant manufacturing.

CÚRAM unites:

  • six academic partners (University College Dublin, University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin, University of Limerick and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland)
  • about 30 industry partners
  • 200 researchers and 500 Global collaborators

It is funded by Science Foundation Ireland which was awarded to National University of Ireland Galway (NUI). CÚRAM which was founded in 2015, is based in the NUI in Galway.
Its devices are developed with strong clinical collaborations to enable rapid translation of research findings to clinical application. Key to this approach has been the establishment of a unique network of synergistic national and international collaborations, integrating world-class academic, industry and clinical partners in medical technologies
