Zentrum für Labormedizin St.Gallen (ZLM)
The Centre for Laboratory Medicine St. Gallen specialises in human medical microbiology (HM), veterinary diagnostics (VD) and clinical chemistry, haematology and immunology (KCHI).
The ZLM St. Gallen ensures a high level of basic laboratory care as well as special analyses for the Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen, public hospitals/institutes and independent doctors and veterinarians in the Canton of St. Gallen and the region of Eastern Switzerland. The core competencies include routine and special analyses in clinical chemistry, haematology, haemostaseology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, genetics and veterinary diagnostics, such as BSE diagnostics or food hygiene. The laboratories are characterised by innovation and modern automation, the spatial equipment reaches up to safety level BSL3.
The ZLM conducts practice-oriented research & development as well as scientific studies on behalf of customers and in cooperation with academic institutions. Medical diagnostics and studies are closely interlinked with the infectious diseases department of the Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen, whereby the ZLM maintains a direct link to the clinicians.
As an independent institution under public law of the Canton of St. Gallen, the ZLM St. Gallen employs approximately 150 staff. The quality standard is documented by the certification according to ISO/IEC17025.
