LEITAT - Technological Center
LEITAT is a private non-profit Technological Center located in Terrassa, Spain, with more than 110 years of experience in R&D, technology transfer and industrial innovation services. LEITAT develops R&D activities in the areas of biomedicine, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, environment, surface treatments, material science, engineering and renewable energies, with deep knowledge and experience in technological transfers to several industrial sectors. LEITAT also provides a full range of services to the different industrial sectors such as material design, testing and processing, and development of prototypes. Additionally, LEITAT takes part each year in many projects financed by the regional and national governments, participates in projects co-funded by the European Commission, and develops private R&D projects funded by industrial partners.
Within the Health sector, LEITAT has an extensive track-record on national and international projects related to: Cancer, Medical Devices, Regenerative Medicine, Nanomedicine, Bio in vitro & Toxicology, Food & Health, Industrial Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, 3D-bioprinting/Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Materials.
LEITAT’s Health & Biomedicine Unit accounts with more than fifteen years of preclinical investigation in oncology in a multinational pharmaceutical concern. Their main tasks have been to identify therapeutic targets, the validation of these targets, the generation of therapeutic agents (monoclonal antibodies, MAb, and chemically synthesized compounds), the study of their mechanisms of action and their functional characterization in in vitro and in vivo models (preclinical proof-of-principle).
LEITAT is recognized by the Spanish Government as a CIT (Centre of Technological Innovation) and is one the 5 Technological Centres that is accredited by the Regional Government of Catalonia. Finally, it is member of FEDIT (Federation of Technological Centres in Spain) and the IT Network of the Catalan Regional Government.
